Located in the heart of the scenic Bitterroot Valley, the town is nestled between the Bitterroot and Sapphire Mountains. With a population of about 2,000, this quaint community is located just 30 miles south of Missoula. Founded in 1841, Stevensville is Montana's very first permanent settlement
 
History:
Known locally as the "where Montana began," Stevensville originated when Jesuit missionaries and Salish Native Americans established St. Mary’s Mission. The area is home to many of the state's "firsts," including the first cattle, crops, and irrigation systems. Another major local landmark is Fort Owen State Park, a preserved 1850s trading post that offers a glimpse into early pioneer life. 
 
Geography & Climate:
Stevensville sits at an elevation of 3,300 feet. It experiences a semi-arid, continental climate, boasting warm summers and cold, snowy winters. The stunning backdrop features St. Mary’s Peak, one of the most prominent summits in the Bitterroot range.
